Nunkie is the descendant of the kings who ruled the Munchkin Country before it became a part of the Land of Oz; he might have been King of the Munchkins, but instead retired to the Blue Forest with his baby nephew, Ojo. After Ojo grew up and their bread tree stopped producing, Nunkie took Ojo to visit their nearest neighbor, his old friend Dr. Pipt. There, Nunkie was accidently turned to marble by the Liquid of Petrifaction, but was later restored to life by the Wizard of Oz.
