The Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) is a socialist and feminist political party in Sweden, from 1967 to 1990 known as the Left Party - Communists (Vänsterpartiet kommunisterna; or VPK). On welfare issues, the party opposes privatizations. Moreover, the party opposes Swedish membership of the European Union and advocates increased public expenditure. The Left Party is a member of the Nordic Green Left Alliance.
