A ridge tent is a type of shelter consisting of a frame of poles or some single poles draped with a tarp of some kind of fabric, usually with a rectangular floor. The frame normally consists of a single upright pole at each end with the tops joined by a horizontal ridge pole. Longer models might have an additional upright poles along the length to help support the ridge pole. They often have two guy ropes at each corner, and guy ropes regularly along the sides. If strong winds are expected, two additional storm guy ropes can be attached to each pole.
