Abbess Vale was a female mouse Abbess of Redwall Abbey following either the death or retirement of Abbot Saxtus. She was the ruler of Redwall Abbey when it was struck by the Dryditch Fever epidemic, and helped to care for the ill and dying Redwallers. Friends of hers included Bremmun, Faith Spinney, Brother Hollyberry and Furgle the Hermit. Vale kept a journal as Abbess, which included directions to the Great Inland Lake written by Samkim in it; this was used many generations later to help in the war against the Marlfoxes.
