The Scarlet Speedster is a 2009 American comic book movie starring Drew Brees and Jessica Biel, based on the Flash character from DC Comics. A reboot of the 1990's series featuring the same character, the movie was meant to be a grittier, more realistic take on the property than the light-hearted predecessors, in the vein of Batman Begins. However, the film was a box office failure despite moderately favorable reviews, and the planned 2012 sequel was postponed indefinitely and later cancelled. It represented the worst loss on a film in United Pictures history, with the movie meant to be the first of a franchise.
