Alfred John Henry Prevost (31 May 1873-10 January 1946) was an auctioneer and local politician active in the East End of London. Born in Mile End, he was the son of Alfred and Henrietta Prevost. The family became resident in Southend on Sea on the Essex coast, and Prevost succeeded his father as head of an auctioneering business based in Mile End. In 1909 he was elected unopposed to Stepney Borough Council. In 1918 he became an alderman. Re-appointed in 1922, he served as Mayor of Stepney in 1923-24.
