Joe Perry is a member of the band Aerosmith. Peter Parker liked the band and apparently thought Perry looked good. When he found himself bonded to the symbiote and that it could become any clothing he wanted, he decided to make himself look like Perry. However, he decided against the look and went with an Armani suit.
