Kale and his family once tended to the ruined temple west of Elddim, on the edge of the Great Northern Forest, but they were driven out by undead. He believes that there must have been a great battle at the temple a long time ago, given the strength of these newly-risen dead. With the return of the Maljin, Kale remarks that if the "red wind keeps howling", he "may never sleep again".
