Ernest Dithers (1935-) became the 25th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Magic in 1989. From a pureblood wizarding family, he attended Kaaterskill Academy of Magic beginning in 1946, where he was a member of Harrison House. As the liaison with the muggle government of the United States, he is in contact with the President of the United States on an as-needed basis.
