The 1957-50 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Newberry Speedway on October 12, 1957. The trackside attendance of 900 spectators was the lowest in series history. Fireball Roberts showed all the fans how good his car was by leading 118 of the 200 laps in route to victory. Buck Baker, the eventual season champion, was the runner-up, one lap behind Roberts.
