This area is located west of the Old Forest and southeast of Bree. It has served as a burial ground, mostly of men, for thousands of years. This place has served as one of the burial grounds of the Dúnedain from the lost kingdom of Cardolan. The Elves refer to this place as Tyrn Gorthad. The men of Cardolan decided to take refuge here during the war with the Witch-King of Angmar. During the Third Age of 1636, the witch-king sent evil spirits known as the wights to inhabit the tombs. This area has since become a place of darkness, where few people dwell.
