Also known as Tulkashildi or Astaldatani among the Hildor, the Hands of Tulkas were a profane Order or Guild committed to the Service and commemoration of the Vala Tulkas. The original Hands of Tulkas had been Noldorin Exiles who had been pupils at Tulkas Court and had preserved their knowledge of unarmed combat. In Middle-earth some among the Edain became pupils of these Elves and continued their own Order or Heren which eventually had to flee Númenór due to the rise of the Kingsmen and supposedly survived in later Arnor and Gondor.Many of the teachings of the Heren Astaldion, including treatises on the philosophy and practice of their Martial Arts, were written down by a non-dúnadan Master in A manuscript known as Hammed's Guide to the use of the Fist.
