Felipe Costa lived in the Azores islands, which he believed were the remnants of Atlantis. Despite his age, Costa was a womanizer who was grumpy and unwelcoming to visitors if the likes of Indiana Jones disrupted his flirting. However, he would eagerly talk to young attractive women like Sophia Hapgood who introduced him to Indy in 1939. When the pair provided him with an Atlantean relic, such as an eel figurine, he told them where to look for the "Hermocrates", the lost dialogue by Plato, which was in Barnett College.
