On episode 209 of The Muppet Show, Gonzo sings "Wishing Song" backstage when he learns that although guest star Madeline Kahn likes him, she doesn't like him enough to marry him. Gonzo sadly sings about the things he wishes that he either has or were, and states that most of all, he wishes that he were someone else. Madeline finds him singing, apologizes, makes him feel better, and then lets him finish his song, which concludes with him happy to be himself. This song was part of the 1985 stage show "The Muppet Show on Tour: 2nd Edition". Lyrics appear in the book It's Not Easy Being Green.
