Johann Blaze (Japanese: 緋獅堂丈次郎 Hishidō Jōjirō) better known as Joe is a Trainer from the Kalos region whose specialty is Fire-type Pokémon. He is from Lumiose City and the Gym leader of the Rubina Gym. He debuted as a hot-blooded and overconfident man who never lost a battle until he met Ash. He starts to become infatuated on how warm-hearted and passionate he is about bonding with Pokemon which turn to romantic feelings after witnessing how caring Ash is, which starts to become a bit of a side gag. But in reality, Joe wants to do the same and would sacrifice himself to keep Ash safe from harm.
