Botsu Mura was a small and ancient village built on stilted platforms within the boundaries of Omikura Swamp, in the Naishou Province. The people were fishermen who used short wooden spears rather than nets, and they also traded unique plants valued for herbalists. Most villagers were descended from the Takanobu tribe, and a few families from the Morikawa tribe, but anyone would fight with ferocity to protect themselves in the face of external threats.
