The 2004 Ford 400 was a Nextel Cup Series event held at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 21, 2004. It was the season finale Greg Biffle won his second race of the year, leading 117 of 271. The race featured the most exciting championship conclusion in recent memory thanks to the Chase for the Nextel Cup. Kurt Busch seemed to be solidly in charge of the battle, but a wheel fell off his car at midway. Busch's car narrowly missed pit wall and then pitted with the aid of a caution for the missing wheel.
