Michael Barrington (3rd July, 1924 - 5th June, 1988) played Edgar Nuttall in Coronation Street in December 1963. Born in Shropshire, he had plans to become a veterinary surgeon but the onset of the Second World War led to him working in a munitions factory and serving in the Royal Engineers. He then decided to become an actor and trained at the Birmingham School of Drama. Film roles include The Hellfire Club and Up The Junction.
