Suranyi was a Starfleet officer serving aboard the USS Stargazer in 2355. Upon the Stargazer's destruction, Suranyi was among those whose families Captain Picard dreaded facing. (TNG - The Lost Era novel: The Buried Age) Suranyi's name indicates the officer was possibly a human of Hungarian descent. Suranyi probably came aboard sometime after 2333, as there are no references to the character in the Star Trek: Stargazer series.
