Phantom Squadron was an elite TIE/LN starfighter squadron in the Imperial Navy. During the Galactic Civil War, it saw extensive action, fighting mainly in the Outer Rim Territories. The pilots of the squadron flew heavily modified TIEs, which were given tougher armor, more advanced targeting systems, and upgraded laser cannons. The TIEs they flew were unmarked, unlike many units, which personalized their fighters. The squadron did it to build up a reputation among the Rebel Alliance, making an effect that caused Rebel pilots to be weary, as any regular TIEs could be Phantom Squadron.
