The North American Bee Journal was founded August 1872 by publishers, Moon & King, of Indianapolis, Indiana, as a monthly periodical. Moon had left the National Bee Journal after its May 1872 edition - at which time he was residing in Paw Paw, Michigan. Volume I of this new publication covered some controversy apparently related to that departure. Franklin, Kentucky, was given as an alternate subscription address. A. F. Moon published the first issue of his subsequent, monthly periodical, Bee World in November 1873.
