Jekkarta was a weed found on the planet Jekkar. Jekkarta was originally considered to be a pest by the farming colonists of the planet, who constantly attempted to stop its growth. Eventually, someone discovered that when jekkarta was dried and smoked, it became a euphoric drug with no side-effects. When the price of Jekkarta began to rise, the colony's government stepped in and added tariffs and limits to its export. Because of this, black-market jekkarta smugglers stepped in to keep up exports.
