Jennifer Ann Smith was born to Kevin West and Kimberly Demit-Smith in the year 2012. Kevin had first met Kimberly years prior during the 'Darkness Falls' incident in Los Angeles. Having fled after the destruction of L.A., Kevin and Kimberly migrated from place to place until the birth of Jennifer. It wasn't long until her mutant power began to emerge when she was only 5. Unable to control her optic blasts, Kevin and Kim struggled to find a device to contain them. Finally after years of tinkereing, they managed to make special sunglasses and a battle visor to control her blasts while Kevin began to teach her to defend herself.
