The 1948-38 was a Modified Tour event held at Charlotte Speedway on September 12, 1948. Buddy Shuman won his first series race, narrowly holding off Curtis Turner when the race was called due to a multi-car accident. Eventual season champ Red Byron, involved in the accident, still finished 3rd.
