There are 31,556,952 seconds in a year. This is proven by taking the number of seconds in a minute (60) multiplied by the number of seconds in an hour (60) multiplied by the number of hours in a day (24) multiplied by the number of days in a year (365). Since a year is not exactly 365 days... we need to add in the remaining time which is 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 12 seconds according to Wikipedia. So we take (60*60*24*365) + (5*60*60) + (49 *60) + 12 = 31,556,952
