Barbara had the great misfortune to have married Robert Waverly. In 1995 Robert witnessed Duncan MacLeod's defeat of immortal, Peter Matlin and videotaped the beheading and Quickening then later used it to try and blackmail MacLeod into killing his wife, Barbara. A graduate of Simon Fraser University, she was fluent in English, French, and Italian and skilled with research and information systems. She completed her apprenticeship as a Watcher historian from 1996 - 1997. She then moved into research from 1997 - 1999. In 1999 she was promoted to Area Librarian in Seacouver.
