Sigirum City was protected by a shield generator, as the equatorial zone of the planet was frequented by tsunamis and severe storms. The city also lacked the traditional stilted design for the same reason. However, this zone was one of the few parts of the planet where sunlight could occasionally be seen, though usually only 12 standard hours a year. The buildings of the city were said to resemble those of the pre-flood settlements.
