The International Crisis Group is an international, anti-conflict non-profit, non-governmental organization. It was founded in 1995 by World Bank Vice-President Mark Malloch Brown, former US diplomat Morton I. Abramowitz and Fred Cuny, an international disaster relief specialist who disappeared in Chechnya in 1995. Their aim was to create an organisation, wholly independent from any government, to assist governments, intergovernmental bodies and the international community at large in preventing deadly conflict.
