Postera was the wife of Menas Maxius, governor of Apropus. She was a vicious, sado-masochist who delighted in the torment of slaves who were made to fight in gladiatorial games. When Hercules allowed himself to be imprisoned in order to find Gladius, Postera took a liking to him and offered him the chance to become her personal slave. When Hercules refused, she had Bellicus give him forty lashes. Postera was eventually driven into "voluntary" exile with her husband after Hercules and Gladius freed all the slaves.
