A Schimmelhorn Engineer is a baseline human with abilities somewhat similar to the ones of a mutant devisor, in that they are somehow able to build inventions that work in defiance of known laws of science. They are the model for what the popular media calls "mad scientists." The name derives from a series of stories by Reginald Bretnor, in which the protagonist created several such unbelievable inventions.
