After the artifact was destroyed, it was discovered that a large mine of power crystals was being used by the Republic Nation, located on a archipelago of islands in the western part of the planet. The 181st, 187th, Onyx Squadron, Avenger Squadron, and Scimitar Squadron went to attack the mine, the entrance of which was located at a province capitol called Caldera City on the main island. They squadrons would give cover to the gunships which would land troops at the beach plaza, and head up into the dormant volcano where the city and mine was located.
