Barys Kavar was a male Bajoran who lived aboard Deep Space 9. In 2369, Barys and four other Bajorans were arrested by Odo after getting into a fight with several Cardassians who were visiting the station, with Barys noted to have thrown the first punch. Later, Benjamin Sisko arranged for Barys and the others to be released, ordering them to stay away from the Cardassians. Barys commented that the Bajoran government would be displeased if Cardassians freely visited Deep Space 9 again. (DS9 novel: The Star Ghost)
