A Wanoni tracehound was an extremely aggressive canine pursuer. In 2369, Odo compared Lwaxana Troi's pursuit of himself to that of the Wanoni tracehound. (DS9: "The Forsaken") Star Trek: The Starfleet Survival Guide describes the Wanoni tracehound as a native of Arak III, which has exoskeletal armor plates and venomous spines on its neck. The books includes advice on how to avoid them. The Decipher RPG book Creatures describes the Wanoni tracehound as a native of Betazed, which very closely resembles a mastiff dog.
