Colchester United and Bristol Rovers have met 28 times in competitive football, Rovers winning twelve of those games and Colchester nine. All of their meetings have been in the Football League, they have never played each other in a major cup competition. The first meeting between the clubs came during Colchester's first season in the Football League, a Division Three (South) match on 26 August 1950, which ended goalless.
