Blaidd was an elder with numerous childer in the region of Rhufoniog, and was some sort of bogeyman to the natives. His glaring eyes made clear he had abandoned his humanity long ago, and he looked much like a wolf—pointed snout, bared fangs, ears laid back, hackles raised—yet it stood on two legs. Owain had instructed the young man about the vampiric weaknesses (such as fire, sunlight and the good old stake through the heart) and, surprisingly, Morgan's attack was successful. He pierced Blaidd's heart - but not before sustaining grievous wounds himself.
