Ellayo Swifteye is Janglur's mother, Gawjo's wife, and Songbreeze's grandmother, and the mother-in-law of Rimrose. Ellayo carried a blackthorn stick. She traveled around with her son and family until they all settled at Redwall Abbey. She knew a lot of stories and old wives' tales, making her a good source of wisdom and advice. She was also good at making blueberry and almond turnovers. Ellayo lost her husband for years when he went looking for the Marlfox's island, but was re-united when Song brought him back.
