The beam weapon was manufactured by the inhabitants of P3Y-294 and in 2001 the weapon was stolen by an NID team led by Colonel Sean Grieves who then used the weapon in his three pursuers, killing all three. Stargate Command got hold of the weapon and returned to P3Y-294 and returned it to its rightful owners but because of the murderous act the government of P3Y-294 broke all contact with Earth.
