ERC Freiburg was an ice hockey team in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, founded on January 30, 1961. The club began playing in the newly-created Regionalliga South-West in 1971. However, the club dropped out after just one season, but they did return and qualify for the Oberliga in 1973. They won the Oberliga in 1977 and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga the following year. After two seasons spent in the 2nd Bundesliga, ERC Freiburg earned promotion to the Eishockey-Bundesliga in 1979.
