Throughout his teen years, Stud fraternized with the tradesmen of the burgeoning smugglers industry on Socorro. He clandestinely began to make runs with some of the smugglers, as a grunt, in order to bankroll his ambitions to own a ship. After purchasing a ship, he took on smuggling jobs and became successful enough to purchase storehouses on Bakura and Selonia. These storehouses doubled as his regional headquarters and safehouses. He planned to buy storehouses on Formos and Ketaris—with credits he earned from his alternative profession as a legitimate freight carrier—until he obtained information regarding the arrival of Warrick McQuarrie on Selonia.
