Aspartate, or Aspartic Acid, is a nonessential amino acid. L-Aspartic acid is widely distributed in proteins, which plays a major role in the energy cycle of the human body. It is also involved in transamination reactions, the ornithine cycle, and the formation of carnosine, anserine, purines, and pyrimidines.
