Gerard Veer was the older brother of Delora d'Zarnagon and member of the House of Veer noble family. When Omaroch d'Zarnagon kidnapped Delora and tried to escape from his pursuers in a theatre, Gerard intercepted him and demanded that he let Delora go. However, before Gerard could free Delora, he was stabbed by an operative from the Order of the Black Rose. Gerard's death shocked the House of Veer which promised to pay a large sum for the head of Omaroch who everyone assumed was the killer.
