Afterburn is a Bolliger & Mabillard Inverted roller coaster at Carowinds that opened in 1999. The ride was originally going themed after Godzilla, but then it ended up being called "Top Gun" until 2007 when it was renamed "Afterburn" due to Cedar Fair deciding not use any of Paramount's intellectual properties after Cedar Fair bought Paramount's theme park division.
