Scott Pearson has said on the Trek Literature boards on the TrekBBS that this story takes place after the USS Enterprise's mission with the USS Hood referred to in "Allegiance." He also said that he places it between "Hollow Pursuits" and "The Most Toys" (but is open to it being moved by the timeliners).
