A bug detector is a small counter-surveillance device used to detect hidden wireless cameras and electronic microphones. Bug detectors have been used by 007 in several adventures, beginning with EON Productions' 1963 James Bond film From Russia with Love, where the spy uses such a device to detect the presence of a phone tap device in his hotel telephone. Roger Moore's Bond swept his accommodation for electronic microphones in two films - Live and Let Die (1973) and A View to a Kill (1985). In the latter film, the device was disguised as a Philishave electric shaver. While the design of such devices has varied across films, their function has remained roughly consistent.
