Having released Zod and his troops via the Orb, Tess was held prisoner for three weeks in the Luthor Mansion. During this time, she was savagely interrogated by the soldiers and after meeting their leader, General Zod, she discovered that the Kandorians did not know how they came to be on Earth and that they are powerless. When suddenly the whole army left the mansion, Tess revealed that letting herself be caught was only part of her plan to discovered more about them. Once the doctors pronounced it and left the room, a mysterious old woman entered the room, shutting the door behind her.
