Walker Monroe was a gun runner, working with Holiday and 13-year-old Gordon "Crossbones" Cavis to bring in and sell cases of Belgian Browning weapons in Miami. Monroe had a girlfriend, Annette McAllister, a convicted prostitute, who was also seeing Holiday. Monroe was also very aggressive and did not hesitate to beat up Annette for the smallest of reasons. In 1987, Monroe began viciously beating Annette when Metro-Dade Detective James "Sonny" Crockett, working a stake-out in the adjoining room, intervened and demanded Monroe drop the knife he was holding to Annette's throat when Cavis pulled his gun on Crockett and was shot by the Vice cop.
