Hexem is a game popular mostly among Old Colonials, and mostly among boys. The game involves participants throwing painful and embarrassing hexes at one another until one of the participants cries “uncle” or is otherwise incapacitated. It is forbidden at the Charmbridge Academy, but the healer does not make a habit of questioning when students come to the infirmary needing fangs, scales, boils, tails, tusks, rabbit ears, batwings, antennae, slime, fungus, extra tongues, extra eyes, and various other disfigurements removed. It is a favorite pasttime of Torvald Krogstad and Stuart Cortlandt.
