Jerold Wells (born Gerald Walls on 8th August, 1908 in London, died 19th July, 1999) played Ted Ashley on Coronation Street in 1964. He moved to Australia as a child where he began his working life as an ironmonger but then went to drama school in Sydney. He moved back to the UK in the 1950s.
