Caani is a leguminous plant native to Telios Prime. It has been cultivated by Telian farmers for more than one thousand years, and has been a staple of Telian diet for just as long. Caani plants are tall, reed like plants, with several tube-like roots that are cultivated twice to three times a year. By selecting only certain roots, rather than cutting all of the roots, farmers have been able to harvest many more roots from a single plant over the course of a growing season. Caani can be prepared in innumerable ways, from boiling and braising, to baking and frying, and it can be served cold or hot, with an acceptable flavour in any case.
