Shinoe was a geisha who eventually joined the Brotherhood of Shinsei. The Temple to Sadahako in the Second City was administered by her, assisted by monks of the Temple District. A pious follower of Sadahako, Fortune of Geisha and Arts, helped the temple to reach the level of popularity it enjoyed under her command. Shinoe tried to promote the temple as an honorable place for her fellow geisha to retire.
